Do you drink or do anything wild at company holiday parties or events? I feel like as one of the only minority associates I have to be extra careful to stay professional. All my white coworkers can talk about is the open bar and how crazy everyone gets...true or false for your company?

I have a CD that gets extremely flustered when you ask them for their opinion on a solution. For example after showing them multiple color pallets and CD not quite liking any of them (real Goldie locks moment) i suggested why not we do (fill in three colors here), the CD freezes up and gets annoyed because they don’t want to say yes or no without seeing it in front of them. Working on tight turn arounds and a cd who is too busy for meetings it proving tough with remote working. Any tips?

How bad is it to leave an understaffed team right before fall busy for a job in a new city? Part of me doesn’t care at all b/c it’s a business decision, part feels like I’m totally screwing the team.

I signed for a new job two months ago and will start next month (3 mo notice period in Europe). They were very keen on getting me on-board ASAP before signing but since I signed the contract it has been silent from the new employee. I've emailed them with questions as I'll be re-locating to NL and it takes them 1-2 weeks to reply. Given all that's going on in the world, I'm worried they might fire me before I even start.

So embarrassed. I literally had one job to do today which was to schedule a client and give and take her paperwork when she came in. Totally called her by the wrong name today AND gave her the wrong paperwork. She was really nice about it but I feel like my boss was disappointed and I'm disappointed in myself. I don't want her to think I won't be able to keep clients straight when I start doing supervised sessions.

I hate working on commission. I am a naturally shy person and approaching guests in our store is intimidating enough, it's even worse when some of my more socially savvy coworkers notice me trying to strike up a conversation with someone and they come in and literally steal my client from me.

I am a female account manager and the majority of my clients are older males. I find myself being interrupted, talked over, and just not taken seriously by many of them. I’ve confided in some of the other male AM’s at my company but it seems like they don’t experience the same issue. Any other female AM’s have advice on how to demand respect and display more confidence with these types of overpowering clients?

I’m a young(ish) male running a private practice. Been with the group a year and a half and haven’t exactly gelled with some of the older employees. Anyone feel as if it’s hard to stay with a company when you’re the only one of color? (&young) I’ve work for 3 companies in past 5 years and have yet to make meaningful colleague relationships. I just do not relate to the conversation and just find it hard to picture myself being a long-term employee. I’ve had better relationships when working at wal-mart when I was in college. Coming up on one full year at an ID firm. Feeling overwhelmed with my experience so far. I’ve received minimal training/feedback unless it was on something I messed up. It feels like the expectations don’t align with my level of experience. I have a case load of 45-55 with very little oversight or involvement from partners.
