I absolutely love headspace. There are so many courses to complete/revisit and redo again, and there’s a live meditation every half hour so you can actually meditate with other people (I felt a huge different somehow). It is very simple and easy to use, and I haven’t got sick of it after 2 years using it every single day.

I had both and calm is by far the best of the two.

C1, I’m curious — what makes you prefer Calm?
I haven't tried Headspace but I LOVE Calm. It has daily meditations, music, sleep stories and all kinds of little features. I play a soundscape just about every night to fall asleep OR listen to a sleep story. Some of them are read by celebrities. My favorite is Matthew McConaughey's. I have no idea what it is about but his voice is so soothing.
Calm works for me. Has become part of my lifestyle now. It really helps.
Second the headspace recommendation.
Try Heartfulness. It’s free.

I have a couple of guided meditation channels on YouTube that I enjoy for falling asleep and allow them to work on my subconscious after I’m out. There are several that are downloadable for situations with no WiFi (downloads have a one time fee) but YouTube is free.
If you need a app to meditate, you are short sighting your practice. Everything else can help you in the early stages, but an app is not going to given you serenity or sense of peace. Part of practicing meditation is learning how to redirect, still the mind, accept where you are that day. If you practice meditation you will build that skill. Otherwise an app is another distraction and a crutch. Helpful at first but would encourage you to move beyond needing an app to meditate.
Is it hard? yes. But if it’s hard that’s when you need it most.
