Worked at both and the in house work at a PE firm was basically just a run of the mill industry role with slightly increased quarter end & YE hours (like 50-55 for a week or 2). The work was interesting, I was able to have a hand in compliance, some fund work, some M&A tax due diligence work, etc. Comp was okay salary wise, I’m making more in public but my annual bonuses were always minimum 10% and the directors a lot of times got carried interest payouts. I will say they are strict with in-office presence though (4-5 days) and my commute was really long which is why I left in the first place. I’d consider going back eventually.
Thank you so much! I appreciate the insight!
It has been night and day for me. Better comp, much better hours, exposure to interesting work and ability to co-invest in our deals are all positives. The biggest downside is since I have no associates or seniors below me, there are some tedious/annoying low-level tasks I have to do.
Thank you! I appreciate your input!
