At Bain, I think the minimum is 1 yr but this could vary by region. Both your home and receiving offices would need to agree to the transfer.
I’ve seen all levels, from AC to Partners, transfer to the US. It really depends on your performance and the receiving office’s need for someone at your tenure.
Would you start off as a Bain US employee? If so, it is easier to spend a year abroad and return.
If you're looking to apply internationally to hopefully get in more easily then transfer to the USA, that path isn't as easy.
