Can you thrive or survive in consulting by doing only client billable work?

How much does the industry matter when exiting to a corporate strategy/M&A role? Got an offer with great scope and good pay but industry isn't what I am interested in.

Its an electronic manufacturer that is moving away rapidly from traditional manufacturing into digital such as IoT.

Is LS boutique to the buy side a viable route? Or is there often intermediary roles?

Got laid off in tech corp dev making 250-300 all in. Have an offer to join a fairly new family office investment team in PE buyouts but will be a fairly significant cash pay cut vs what I was making in tech corp dev. I’ve always been interested in doing investing. All things being equal, is there better upside to take the fam office to do PE (at a pay cut for now), or go do another corp dev job? 6-7 YOE

I'm having trouble. I have a client who is going from a climbing company, to a fitness company. They have a product that lets them expand from where they are. I am failing to sell them on the importance of strategy and taking a step back. Honestly, I don't even know that I'm sold on it. But I feel like it's important. My current shop has such kind & creative folks, but the AM department is a bit of a hot mess. They seem to struggle with the basics of their jobs, all the way to the top of the department.
