Please if you can help and advise?
I have just joined Amazon Retail as sr Program Manager a month ago. I miss banking/technology now. I have heard that I can move teams. I know it’s too early so I don’t know how to approach this situation and potential HMs. Reaching out to this community to seek help if you have similar roles for which you (or your network) is hiring, would you be able to help? It’s better to be in a relevant role and be best than performing poor in current role. Please help.

Get a different food truck to show up each weekend
Bars around Lake Tahoe have food trucks.
Trivia nights? Market through Facebook/local resources depending on what city to let people know what’s happening - 4/5 person teams, no entry fee (people will buy food and drinks if you schedule it around dinner time), prize could be a voucher for money off on their next visit and a picture on the wall - people love having their name/picture on the wall and will come back/bring their friends.
Based on the description is sounds like a more laid back, casual atmosphere, maybe some live music from aspiring bands in the area? (Warning for live music, my advice to be to keep it quieter rather than louder, I love live music but can’t stand when I can’t talk to the people I came with).
Also maybe some theme nights, would definitely check out a bar if they were doing a jazz night, etc., but it would definitely depend on the demographic of the area
Watch episodes of “The Profit”.

1) Figure our what’s profitable and what’s not
2) Literally clean up shop
It’s the most relevant show to consulting.
Location? Size? Layout? Vibe?
Very important questions^.
Sabotage the other bar. Monopolize the booze supply.
Another Chicagoan here I see :)
Thanks! :) it's hard watching your folks work 7 days a week nonstop. Will put in some time over the holidays and make it a mini project :)
Keep the ideas coming please! :)
Segment the customer
Segregate*
Become a craft beer/cocktail bar and charge out the wazoo.
What are their yelp and Google reviews?
Top line or bottom?
Don’t forget to start with internal and external analysis before diving into options!
(Sounds like a joke but I’m actually serious - make sure you understand who your customers are, why they come to you, and what competition is doing differently - before launching specific initiatives). Why not start with asking customers their quick 5min feedback over a free coffee?
Fantastic! I guess starting with basics from biz school :) 5 forces, SWOT, customer segmentation... Makes sense
Implement SAP. It's always the answer
Maybe it needs to be a coffee shop?
Coffee shop by day and bar by night? We have two of those in our neighborhood and it’s really fun. People stay all day working and ordering tons of coffee and then in becomes a social bar scene at night.
Super tips already! I love the trivia idea! Live music will likely be too expensive. We're talking 500 per day topline (not US). It's a easy going bar, serving really amazing coffee and great selection of craft beers. Outdoor sitting. In the suburbs, but with many people living nearby. Thank you all soo much for your time!! Any more ideas?
There is a show called Bar Rescue...watch a few episodes. Things reducing overpour and improving the layout of the bar working area could help the bottom line more than people would expect (e.g., getting more from each keg with a new tap ststem). As a consultant I'm sure you could do the quick estimate on break-even on the system.
I'd also check the markup on various things you sell. Especially on snacks.
TV situation? Any big local sports teams? If they sell food, use food specials during games to get butts in seats
Oh and the reviews are so so... Culture of reviews is strange in my country. There are literally 3 star reviews saying Great! And several with just 1 star and no comment, that we believe competition across the street (2 bars in the area total) made
If someone wants to help with a 5 star click, that willnof course also be fantstic!!! It's called Tarok bar in Slovenia. https://g.co/kgs/9cymTw
It gives the impression of a casual dinner. Like breakfast place. Would never have guessed “bar” from the picture. Maybe an identity crisis is the underlying issue.
Redecorate so it’s insta-worthy: cool, colorful walls, and serve pretty drinks or drinks that are picture worthy (rainbow colored, glowing, smoky, on fire, etc.)... once people start snapping and tagging away on Instagram, the crowds will follow suit. You can create a whole marketing machine around this.
Agree with this - decor needs a refresh and then take some great photos and improve the picture on google / trip advisor etc. Also for Instagram
YOU GUYS&GIRLS ARE FCKN AMAZING!!!!!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! So many awesome ideas. We're gonna turn this baby around over the holidays :)
Happy holidays!
So many good ideas and strategic planning steps here! Nice!
However, many marketing ideas are heavily Americanized ideas which may or may not run well in a suburb in eastern European country! So be careful about them.
Good luck OP. Keep us posted.
8 tables is a great size for a date bar! Amp up the ambiance and cool cocktails, candles and chill music. Lots of tiny bars in my neighborhood are specialized as good date spots
