Company was recently acquired by a PE firm and now they announced some restructuring that’s leading to some people being lost in the shuffle and their jobs ending. Sadly, I am one of those but also I find this as an opportunity to reflect and think I want to get out of accounting. What other opportunities allow me to use what I’ve learned to pivot into something where I can make a lateral move salary-wise? Maybe something with more people interaction since I hate just being alone in a cube?

I am contemplating a move to industry working at a VC, Tax Director role east coast. Looks like it will be primarily overseeing compliance with some aspect of advising on structures etc. There is another tax reporting head above me.

The potential comp is the low 200k with a 10% bonus (still higher than what I am making). I feel this is pretty low for VC standards but maybe my standards are also too high. I have generally seen 25% bonus with carry.

Accounting advisory big4 or IA at F100. Both senior roles. Roughly same base pay.

Big4 has clear trajectory and interesting work.

F100 has 14% bonus, perm remote, and immediate vesting 401k over 7%.
