It may be hard to just jump into a new role depending on your skills and where you want to go. What were your roles previously? I would look to that and see if there are positions out there where you utilize some of your old skills but there are a few new interesting job duties on there. If you “liked” what you did but want to be more people facing, I’d look to a public accounting firm. As you progress you’ll get more exposure to clients. You can also move around within the firm to find something that better suits your interests.
Was in public before going to industry. To be honest I had a really terrible time working for both a small local firm and then a National firm for different reasons. Not to sound like a jerk but I’d rather eat glass then go back to public and have billable hours dictate how good of a worker I am. I’m entering my 30’s and the juice isn’t worth the squeeze especially if I don’t have my CPA
If you want more people interaction while still utilizing your accounting knowledge, try recruiting.
Did they give you severance? How much?
Please don't listen to the poster who's telling you to go into recruiting.
Nice reply Auditor 1. Long on problems...short on solutions.
