McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

Chief
These days would probably get paid more in industry if that is a concern.
Money is the last thing in my mind, I want to spend time and support my child.
The best way I can support my kid is by working a well paying job with a good career trajectory. Also this allows my spouse to stay home and focus on making sure our daughter has what she needs.
Why do you think your spouse would be managing it alone? I do a ton of stuff when I’m home. When I’m not my spouse and I talk and are there to support each other.
The only real difference between consulting and a local job is that I’m home less often on Monday to Wednesday evenings. And that trade off allows my spouse to not work outside the home which means we’re not dealing with daycare and sitters, can provide more consistency for our daughter, have $$$ to pay out of pocket for things that we might not be able too otherwise. Plus my spouse doesn’t have the stress of the drop off / commute / work / daycare / get a call from daycare because kid is having a meltdown / pick up kid / change around schedule for the rest of the day/ make dinner etc. that we would have if both of us were working.
