Anyone know a good degree evaluation service?
Hi,
I'm currently having an offer from BlueOptima and Cohesity and am conflicted between the two.
I have offers in the SDET profile.
Cohesity Inc is providing me MTS and @BlueOptima is providing SDET-1.
Glassdoor reviews more of less place the two companies almost equally, and the package being offered by the two is almost in the same range.
My preferences include:
Learning opportunities in the role.
Company's work environment.
Company's growth prospects, are also a consideration.
YOE: 2 years

If you’re white like me it’s so important to realize that we were raised in a society where institutionalized racism is normalized, and we were born with privilege. You can’t choose the color of your skin, but you can choose to put ego aside and reflect on why this isn’t happening to me, and be vocal about being anti-racist.

If you have a cute little furball and you’re NOT showing that thing off at every opportunity, that’s unprofessional and annoying.
1000000% this. I've found it so much easier to connect with clients by getting to share our pets with each other.

I had one client one time who mentioned my cat being in the frame in a disdainful way, because it was a distraction for him (and at the time I lived in a super tiny apartment and there was nothing I could do about it), but he was really weird! I feel like everyone generally loves a pet in the background!
One of my favorite things was a coworker who spent 10 mins of a client meeting fighting her cat for desk space. He must’ve jumped up and gotten picked up and put down like 4 times. The client was Amazon (they’re sometimes known for being a little robotic) and we were all laughing hysterically. The client was like “that’s a very furry design comp”. 🥹 I would break up with your client lol
My dogs run around constantly behind me on calls, if someone has an issue I will happily turn my video off.
I love it. I have an elderly small dog that’s usually sleeping in my lap and he gets up to stretch randomly and at the beginning of calls. I think it’s an issue when he’s doing it for client meetings.
I live in a studio so I just ensure that all of the loud toys are picked up during the workday and if I’m going to be on camera or presenting I throw some peanut butter on a lick mat and freeze it and give it to him just before the meeting starts.
I recently had a loop style interview (4 hrs long for tech) and I had 4 different puzzle toys I would quietly lay on the floor at the start of each new person. One of them he got into the squeaky I had hidden and the interviewer was super cool and was like “I have kids, it’s fine. Now I’m going to need to see the baby - hold him up!” 😅
It’s my favorite part of my day when pets join zoom calls. And my cat often lays on the bed behind me while I work. So don’t you dare call it unprofessional. It’s one of the few things that brings me joy in this corporate life.
No and if anyone does, they're probably sad inside
I will interrupt meetings to ask to be introduced to or to greet children and pets. Keep them coming, PLEASE ! This is the only good thing about zoom.
Oh you have a Chat Cat too! Every time I have a zoom meeting, there’s my kitty. She poses and yowls and the whole team shouts out her name like she’s Norm walking into Cheers. I feel like it adds a little humanism in connection to the team while we’re all working at home.
My cat also loves to visit on screen. It’s actually helped me make better connections with some tough customers
On the contrary. It makes my day seeing a pet video bomb.
Personally, I love it as I’m very allergic to cats & dogs so I get to live vicariously through those calls.
Only if the dog is barking, otherwise I’m
good to see all the pets♥️
Only if the person doesn’t have a soul
Cats, dogs, kids, bring them all!
I LOOOOOOVE seeing pets! It makes the calls a little less tense and they bring so much joy and character into the room!
As long as whatever it is isn’t making noise, I think you need to lighten up. Over a million people died. Let people have their pets.
I would beg of you to show us your cat every meeting. Not annoying at all or unprofessional. My only concern would be if they mowed loudly which yeah, can be distracting.
Are you kidding me? We love to see each others pets.

Doesn’t bother me.
What? No, pets are fine. It’s also not a problem if partners, roommates, and children walk by. Not everyone has a dedicated office.
I love to see peoples pets. As long as it’s not distracting you from your presentation or anything.
