If you have a cute little furball and you’re NOT showing that thing off at every opportunity, that’s unprofessional and annoying.
1000000% this. I've found it so much easier to connect with clients by getting to share our pets with each other.

I had one client one time who mentioned my cat being in the frame in a disdainful way, because it was a distraction for him (and at the time I lived in a super tiny apartment and there was nothing I could do about it), but he was really weird! I feel like everyone generally loves a pet in the background!
One of my favorite things was a coworker who spent 10 mins of a client meeting fighting her cat for desk space. He must’ve jumped up and gotten picked up and put down like 4 times. The client was Amazon (they’re sometimes known for being a little robotic) and we were all laughing hysterically. The client was like “that’s a very furry design comp”. 🥹 I would break up with your client lol
No one feels this way.
Absolutely no one.

No way, i love seeing my coworkers pets and kids. I live alone and work remotely so a hello from a random toddler or seeing a dog or cat appear in the frame makes my day.
Yes, kiddos too!
I love seeing people’s pets on zoom! It makes me smile and lightens up the mood. Doesn’t everyone feel that way? I mean as long as the camera isn’t facing the litter box and I’m watching a cat take a dump….lol
I agree. I think it’s really disarming to see someone’s pets on zoom.
My cat is infamous for showing up to client calls and staring into the camera. It’s extra hilarious because he has no eyes. It’s become a running joke that it’s not a meeting until he makes an appearance.
This is HILARIOUS. Omgsh I love it so much! My cat does the same thing. She does not like to be left out.
Nope. Love the animals. Way more than the people.

I need a full introduction.

Only a psycho wouldn't want this
Not annoying. I love it.
Pets are fine and cute buuuuuuut I had a client who owned a bird and they were pretty good about being muted except for when they were speaking but they had to speak a lot and that bird. was. so. LOUD. It was really jarring for every other word to be punctuated with a squawk and I dreaded those meetings.
If you own a bird, put it in another room (or don't own a bird).
I try and mute my birds (I’m on another floor) when I can. I’m fairly successful. I think…
My pup loves to make a cameo, for the most part pets brighten peoples day!
How dare you have a pet and not introduce them to the team? That’s just offensive.
THIS! I would be so insulted if I didn't get to meet your pets! Those are your wfh coworkers. They are part of the team.
Okay cool, I was paranoid because I LOVE pets and love any exercise to show my little furball but I know not everyone does 😅
I think the consensus is that only bad humans would be negative about it.
Still my PSA is that for people who struggle with ADHD or other neurodiversity conditions it might be a challenge for them. As long as they are respectful I’d support accommodating their requests for a pet-free video call. Which, let’s face it, just means turning off your camera.
I adore it. It breaks up the monotony of meetings and I delight in seeing otherwise dry, blandly professional strangers on the other side of the screen melt instantly into a whole other person because Mr. Fwuffy stuck a snout into frame.
No but please introduce us first ❤️
I love this comment. I always do a formal introduction of my wfh coworkers. My actual coworkers love it.

I would trust a human that animals trust.
I once had a partner who kept a rat we’d gotten for a photo shoot in her office. He hung out on her desk and peed on our concepts. Best art director I ever worked with. She wasn’t bad, either.
Umm excuse me? My dog is always on calls with me. THEY LOVE IT.
I was just starting to feel REAL bad. My cat LOVES being on zoom. And my cowowkers love it. Shes one of the gang now.
Anyone who finds this unprofessional when people are working from home are sociopaths IMO. I mean are we supposed to be all apologetic when such a small sliver of our humanity pokes through? The only people who would think this way make enough $$$ to have a nanny or someone who handles their kids and pets on their behalf.
