Curious to hear about people who left B4 without a CPA and what type of jobs/companies they moved onto?

Ex KPMG here - risk advisory (IA/SOX), so a CPA isn't strictly required, jumped to a boutique consulting firm doing the same work for higher pay!

Very much and upgrade. Better WLB and pay. Work itself is more interesting though the learning curve is a little steeper than audit was imo.

Janitor…so much happier now

funny

Left FDD without cpa to a private credit fund

Didn’t start yet so can’t speak to the wlb and overall enjoyment of the job. The base comp is around 100k + 30-50% annual bonus depending on fund performance + quarterly profit sharing. (MCOL)

Assistant controller at a private company, wlb and money is astronomically better but with this economy there’s alot of fear and paranoia of layoffs.

I’m in LMM PE now

@EY1 definitely happy with the switch but pretty different industry. Comp is better but not crazy more given it’s the LMM.

i left!! still enjoying the mental wellness and haven't gotten back to work yet.

Hello! I am a Technical Sourcer/Recruiter at a reputable FinTech company. I would like to transition into Project Coordination/Management within the tech space. Any tips for the transition? Recruiters: I am open to entry level & contract roles to gain experience! Thanks in advance for the assist!

I’m a woman in my mid 20s and constantly face situations where people outside of cyber (still within the company) that I’m dealing with (older men in particular) who always push back against my cyber/technical recommendations even with managers cc’d. I studied, earned certs, and worked hard to get to where I am. Is it bc of my gender and age? In all honesty, I’ve written recommendations that male counterparts voiced in the past that had ZERO pushbacks.

How do I prepare a strong story for exit conv to industry? My leadership will try their best to retain me. They have strongly supported me throughout my career, so I might end up burning bridges. I want to leave because I don’t want to continue with the project (don’t have option of changing projects, I am a SME, strong knowledge dependencies, been here for 3+ years). Plus the move will be to industry in different kind of work, which is a big big learning opportunity. Any advice? TIA!

Additional Posts in Accounting Exit Opportunities

Does anyone have any insight into accounting roles at Amazon, particularly in the Arlington/DC area? An Amazon recruiter reached out about accounting roles, but the posts in this bowl are about Seattle. Trying to decide if the culture/wlb/pay is even worth looking into since it sounds like the interview process is intense. Base pay seemed pretty low in other posts, but they were a year old and for Seattle.
