When is a 3 page resume acceptable?
Did EY Canada promote everyone a year early or something? I saw a couple of promotions on my LinkedIn that were 🤔 and then saw EY’s official post that they had the largest number of promotions ever. I’m thinking this was a product of having to give large wage hikes like all B4, i.e. if you get a 15-20% bump then we need to bump your position to maintain our ranges long-term, and/or we are going to make you earn your new $ even if you may not be ready for the new title.
Toronto ad fish 🤠 I’ve spent most of my career working as a copywriter in London (6 years here, 2 years Toronto) and the market is pretty different here. I’m planning on moving back home but wondered….how do you find work in Toronto? Agencies barely post openings, is the recruiter scene strong? Is it mostly who you know?

If the job description mentioned specific technologies they are interested in you knowing, make sure to understand that technology (such as cloud, which I know is a big time area of interest these days). You’ll also want to have a good idea and be able to explain the control areas you have experience with, as well as your experiences as a senior leading teams and projects. Otherwise, make sure to ask about what they are focusing on or big projects they have. You will likely be doing SOX work for a portion of the year, and more of a consultant role the rest of the year, so try to gauge their usual workload in that regard. Good luck!
This is such an amazing reply - thank you SO much! I haven’t interviewed since I landed my job at KPMG back in 2016, so I definitely have those pre-interview nerves. This is incredibly helpful!
Just say u know the four domains of itgcs
As someone who’s worked in industry at 2 different companies, your experience will vary. If you have big 4 experience, they already know you can do the job but are interested in your personality. However, it also depends on the position, what kind of work will you be doing? Will it be primarily SOX, IT internal audits, or a mix of both? One of the managers who I worked with was way more technical than the average candidate coming out of public and was looking for someone who had strong technical skills and technology understanding.
I’d also research on whether the company (if public) is relatively new vs a more mature shop. When I was doing research for my interview for IA IT senior role, I realized company is just went IPO and needed sox readiness help internally- so they needed to a team with experience with setting up from near scratch - so I leveraged my knowledge of the company’s current need and how my role fits into the process
Other than that they might ask are you familiar with xxx systems they use, if you have other IA type experience, whether you plan to get certified if you haven’t already (like CISA or CPA etc)
