Never ending PTO starting tomorrow AM if you're Sudheer
You can only roll over a full years worth of PTO. So while you can have over 200 hours. At end of CY it will be trimmed to 200. (Or 240 for manager and up)
200 for me. It varies.
D1- 200 hours? Not seem to be true in my case.. yours stopped at 200 hours ?
D3- so meaning for managers below, we can accrue 200 max in a year? e.g. have 230 hours now, if I don't use them, I will have 200 staring 1/1/2018 to start?
There is a max that you can carry over equal to how much you accrue. So I could have 400 on Dec 31st but it will reduce to 200 on Jan 1st since I accrue 200 per year.
So if you are quitting, quit near the end of December with a boatload of hours.
You don't stop accruing unless it's a state rule like CA where you cannot lose PTO. For the rest of us, you can only roll over the prior year, and you lose anything before that. So in theory, you could almost accrue 2 years of PTO by the end of the year if you used none-and then on Jan 1 you lose everything you rolled over from 2016 and didn't use yet.
D4- CA has a rule that PTO will not be forfeited?
In CA you can't lose PTO, so you stop accruing.
It's all semantics. Same end result whether you stop accruing or forfeit.
D4: stop accruing means the same as forfeiting... say I earned 200 hours this year ending 12/31/2017, if I don't use it till 1/31/2018, I will still have 200 because I won't be accruing any hour at the 200 cap. That is stop accruing = the hours I should be earning post that 200 hours are invisibly forfeited! Right? That's awful!
