Did not get an offer from Morgan Lewis last week. I went to a seminar today where the partner I interviews was speaking (he is the main partner of the group and he has like a 5 person team). I just wanted to show up to the seminar to be like yo I’m here dude. He said that he ultimately doesn’t make the decisions. I told him I accepted an offer elsewhere (which I did). Not sure how I feel about the situation haha

If you get an offer a few days before you have a final interview (or while you're waiting to hear back), is it okay to ask for some time? Or do they expect you to answer right there?

If you have been a part of a reorg, however, how do you personally approach it? To the lender counsel that forgot to mention they needed original signature pages for a deal that closed early this year and decided to chase and harass me a day before thanksgiving and a day after thanksgiving multiple times. F*ck you. I don’t know what is driving your lack of courtesy but I have represented the same bank before and know their usual original signature requirement.

I’m in this business to cure my inferiority complex. Making lots of money, working with fortune 500 clients and walking the streets of NYC with a suit, tie and briefcase makes me feel important and worthy.

I often wish I could be like my law school friends who either moved to small towns or have public sector or non profit jobs, wear sweaters and jeans to work and make far less than me, but are happy with their lives, feel a sense of meaning with their work and don’t need external validation.

Why can't a placement agent combine or integrate the offering of interests in the sponsor's fund with the contemporaneous offering of interests in another fund? This job is a lot better if you don't care about the bonus and hours requirement. I can pretty easily bill 1700 hours annually and my firm so far hasn't cared in the slightest. Worrying about hitting 2000 hours for the bonus used stress me out so much, and I just don't think it's worth it. Base salaries are ridiculous and way more than enough to finance my lifestyle.
