Did you all have a period of time in your copywriting journey where you felt like you were no good as a copywriter? As an intern, I'm finding it really hard to see the value in embracing harsh feedback. It always crushes me and makes me feel like maybe it's not too late to just switch careers and stop pursuing something I'm not good at. Could you share a bit about this period of your career, if you had one? I could really use some motivation right now.

If you think you’re bad now, just wait until you become jaded and let clients crush your soul. I was a much better writer as an intern.

Is the feedback constructive? Do they make it clear what you're doing right vs wrong, or are your mentors telling you? I think interns are scared of looking some type of way if they ask questions. But just keep asking an asking to understand what makes a good writer. Look at the copy of previous work for the brand you're working on, and try to figure out the tone of writing. Give it 3-5 adjectives and write to that.

As far as headlines go, I always look at the cadence, does it sound nice? And is it clever? Is there a punchline at the end or is it just a sentence. Copywriting is a lot like stand up comedy, or rapping. I mean Kendrick has punchline after punchline and those are all little bits of headlines.

When I was an intern, writing for this brand I could not get it for several weeks and it was just
Social captions. I just got asked to write for them, (two years later) and it took one round for the CD to pick everything out. You learn and as a sensitive soul who also isn't great with negative feedback, being forced to write hundreds of scripts and headlines really helps you learn. You got it dude.

What is considered a “large” caseload in employment litigation? I work at a large L&E boutique law firm and handling about 14-15 active litigation cases in state/federal court or arbitration. Some of these matters are multi-plaintiff and multi-defendant cases, but none are class actions. This does not include any matters I am handling in the charge stage or in pre-litigation. Not sure if that’s a typical caseload or not?
