Do hiring managers usually call the current manager to hear about the candidate before extending a job offer? (Analyst/Associate) Should i proactively email the names of my ex-managers i am good with?

I recently made the switch to a fully remote Sr IA role. As a new hire, my manager asked me to come up with some measurable and quantifiable performance goals for the next 6 months, as well as a stretch goal. Does anyone have any suggestions? I appreciate the help.

Has anyone else had a mentor (assigned to them by the Company) who seemed to have it out for you? I mean downright sabotage to make you look bad left and right. I didn’t realize it at first. She was fake friendly, but she was discrete too. Some of the executives thought she was amazing, but I had to clean up her work all the time. She wasn’t above me either on the chain of command. Later I found out she had tried for the exec assistant role and they didn’t choose her, they wanted me instead.

Was told I’d only have one round (4 interviews), each split 50/50 on case/behavioral. This is for an Associate position and will be interviewing with AP/P/SP level. Is this typical? Since I see most people have multiple rounds.

Is it possible to reapply at McKinsey after striking out at super day 3 months ago? Is it worth to chat with the same recruiter, highlight your interest and see if there are business needs or will I be considered a joke for even bringing this up so early?

Hi all, I have a question regarding retirement accounts. I am not sure if I should choose a Roth or 401k (company has 4+2% match). Currently 23, base salary is ~100k and investments have brought 45k this year which has me teetering between a 22-24% tax bracket. Wondering what the usual tax bracket is of people retired (around 65yo) as I’m not sure anything would bring in significant income with the exception of investments. In my case would a Roth make sense? Appreciate any answers!!
