I do this about twice a month. I find it’s a good investment, notwithstanding the opportunity cost of billable hours.
But like, billable hours don’t feed my soul. Setting aside time to clip my toe nails?! Now we’re taking self care…

Hahah I love this. Thank you!
Literally doing this today, except it's random threads of work that have been overlooked for the last several days (but it is also laundry and dishes). It's absolutely necessary, and you should not feel guilty about it.

Thank you guys!! I really needed this validation and hearing that it’s okay and others are doing it too makes me a lot more at ease taking the time.
Thank you so much for posting this. I also needed the validation
Completely understand! All of the time! I need one today but can’t take it.
Do you have that wonderful “unlimited vacation?” If you’re caught up and your billables are good, just officially take a day!
I needed a 2 hour nap today and I’m not even close to making hours for the week. But we can’t work if we don’t take care of ourselves!
I’m taking today and making up for it Monday. I need one of those days at least ones a month. Sometimes things pile up.
Yes, alll the time (especially because I have kids and know the house will just descend into pure chaos if we don’t keep up lol).
This is nearly every day for me 🫠
I totally get this!! It’s difficult to find a day to do that and I craaaave it! Every morning when I’m rushing to leave for work and stressed about how much of a mess my life is, I wish I could just take the day off to work on the house. I try to plan out those days off, but that doesn’t work very often, I always end up getting an “urgent” call and working.
Also literally doing this today for administrative stuff and my office messes. Keep going, it'll pay dividends later!
I’m living vicariously through your get shit together day! I’ve needed one for like two weeks…my house is a disaster zone, I still need to do my taxes, laundry, dishes, etc.
Pay someone to do these things for you
If I don’t take at least one of these days a month I burnout and then have like 3 straight days where I crash and not only avoid work but also the home mess and then end up further behind. So I 100% support taking a day or half days as needed to get your shit done. If there’s nothing urgent at work due, that’s a good time to take advantage of the slow for personal things and can make up for the billables later
Why dont you do instacart?
I do Instacart. It’s still tough to plan 🙃 and the higher prices on the app add up
