Do you guys think it's worth paying off an auto loan? I have a 10k, 3 year loan with about 4k balance remaining. Interest is about 4%. I want to get rid of the loan but the total interest I pay over the life of the whole loan is only like $700.

Should I just keep paying the minimum on it? I was debating whether to sell some of my stock and pay for it bc stock prices are so high and frothy and im not sure this is going to last forever.

Peace of mind is worth more than the potential for rate arbitrage. Just pay it off and be happy you don't owe anyone.

What’s that money doing for you instead and do you trust yourself to invest most of / all of the additional cash you have available each month instead of making a car payment.

like

Yes I invest about 35% of my income into 401k or brokerage accounts

Can the $4k make you more than $700 in the next 3 years?

If so, let it ride.

If not, pay off the loan.

Predicting the future is never simple math. Add to that calculating return every once in a while to see if it was worth it.

Personally yes, I would. Getting rid of debt improves my sense of happiness in life!

lol yeah it’s true

I got a decent deal on a small 1 bed in a luxury building (hell’s kitc). Should I do a 12 month lease or 24m?

Got the rent negotiated to under 3k + free amenities for a year (gym, pool, etc.). I’m afraid rent will atleast go back to the original price (+5%) and then some. The building has some sort of rent control but that’s predicted to go away in less than 1 year as per the lease. The legal rent limit is way higher.

Would love some perspective on renewal experience after 1 year. TIA.
