I’d be very concerned joining DB right now. The future is very uncertain. Especially depending where in the globe you’ll be located. Rumors of restructured geographies of operations as well, may mean they pull out of certain countries/regions.
Right now, AFC is not laying people off because they literally cannot. DB is under multiple very public consent orders and cease and desist orders for all sorts of compliance issues. Unless DB decides to completely divest from the US market (possible but unlikely) AFC won't have too much in layoffs (not to mention they have a long term commerical lease signed for time warner building that will cost them probably millions to break).
With that said, the most likely scenario is DB US gets sold off/merged with another bank and your role be made redundant.
I wouldn't go to DB for a VP role for anything less than 180k/190k base. That bonus expectation/promise is worthless, DB has not given good bonuses in years.
How many years of experience do you have?
Deutsche has had a lot of issues with AML compliance, so chances are Fin Crimes is the last area they’d want to cut.
I think for aml the most distressed banks are where you really want to go as it relates to compensation. Cant say much to stability i usually leave before they would even consider firing.
What if the region op joins gets shutdown completely c1? This restructuring will dig very deep
Yes that’s my confusion guys, in one hand they have tons of AML issues ...means work for long time; on the other hand who knows how this new restructuring will work
As someone that does a lot of AML work, id stay away. There’s a lot of room to succeed, but it’s probably a shitshow on the ground and will only continue to be
Just go and have three months of savings reserved. And if they lay you off boomerang to your current firm, you’re no worse off might even get a raise
Massive layoffs, but great packages. Almost a year’s worth salary. In your line of business you could be there for a while and be able to get the package if things don’t go as expected
I wouldn't join DB right now. Actually, I wouldn't have joined DB two years back when I was looking to leave consulting. But... I'm in an H1b so that factors into my decisions hugely.
