Hi everyone! I hope you’re all doing well and staying safe during the holiday season. I wanted to take a moment to highlight a role that I’m hiring for - Sr. Learning & Talent Development Partner. If you’re interested, I’ve added to the Fishbowl jobs board - https://joinfishbowl.com/job_rpc2p5vsvq. Feel free to reach out directly if you’d like to chat. :)
I have a possible opportunity at Protiviti. Coming from big4 and wondering if Protiviti has fairly similar perks. I’ve read the 2022 benefits guide and it gave a oddly low PTO count of 16 days. Is this true and what about a holiday disconnect in the December time period? Are there any other hidden perks that are awesome? Already heard WLB is better and the culture, but I feel like I’ve gotta find that out first hand. Protiviti

I usually take it off. You probably want to treat yourself and do nicer things than work on that day. It’s only once a year after all, so take the day off if you feel like it :)
I didn’t know they allowed children on this site…take all the time you need little boy or girl - you earned it!
Jokes aside…keep stacking sats and in short order this won’t be a question for you
I often take the week of my birthday off 🤷♂️
i always take my birthday off it makes no sense to me to be given PTO, and then not use just 1 single day of it on my birthday so i can just chill on my birthday
Absolutely take PTO if you feel like it. I’m taking my bday off during busy season because (1) I know I’ll be working long hours regardless, and (2) those 24 hours won’t make that much of a difference.
We are entitled to PTO, if that makes you happy go for it, if you have something important to work on maybe think about it, but if you made plans take it off. We are not doctors no one will die.
I request it off 364 days in advance and block the day on my calendar. It's my PTO, people can respect that or get stuffed.
In my 26 year career I think I have taken my birthday off every year except for maybe 1 year. Not childish at all, it’s your day to celebrate you!
I take my pto on my birthday every year 🫶🏼 I treat myself and have a “me day”.
The commenters on here shaming you for it sound miserable 😅
Early in my career I didn’t take it off but now I do every year. You aren’t guaranteed the next birthday so enjoy it and do something nice for yourself. I know a colleague that recently took off an entire week to celebrate hers and didn’t regret it.
I take a day around my birthday every year (2 buddies have close birthdays). We golf and eat lunch - I think it’s a good excuse
We’re all in our 40’s - golf, 19th hole for a beer and then a fancy meal afterwards 🤣
I always take my birthday off to just relax and do whatever I want to do!! And not think about work
I think to request the day off mid week specifically for your bday is kinda kiddie but who cares. I generally don’t take the day off as my bday is a week before the deadline and I don’t really celebrate my bday anyway
Do you have to explain why you are taking a day off?
It’s your birthday. You do you. You want to take it off, take it off, you earned it!
It’s your day off not your husband’s
Does their husband handle PTO for the firm?
I have never considered taking my birthday off
If it is a Friday, I will take it off but other than that, I don’t.
lol
I spent every busy season without taking off for my bday. I would if I could just bc it’s been so long since I’ve been off for my bday
My birthday is during tax season. So, no. Otherwise, yes.
I think its kind of childish to make a big deal of your birthday as an adult. But if you have the pto do whatever you want
I really don't see how celebrating your birthday is childish. But I guess you are proving that there are people that see is as childish.
