Not my company! Our Support emails automatically include our first and last name and I HATE IT!
No. Our emails match our names and paychecks. We had an issue about a month ago when someone was going by a preferred name and another dept deleted her email bc they thought she wasn't an employee. Caused such an issue.
I've only ever worked one place where we were allowed to give an alias and it was last name only. Fortunately, my first name is pretty common but when combined with my last name, ethnicity, and location I'm very easy to find. I definitely refuse to give my last name.
At my last center, we were required to give first and last names on every call. So we had to say "Thank you for calling (company) this is (first name, last name). How can I help you?" I refused to give my last name at first. Then I got in trouble for that & figured I have no choice and would prefer to keep my job.
I've had people get mad at me for not giving out my last name before, but no one has ever threatened physical harm toward me over it. I had one guy get really confused about how he would be able to follow up on his calls and how would management know who he was talking about if he had to call back and complain that I did something wrong. Apparently, the fact that all of our calls are recorded meant nothing to him.
