Hi, I'm applying to Oliver Wyman after spending 4 years in operations at Amazon (prior background is big4 consulting and top MBA). Can anyone who has gone through their experienced hire process speak to the cases portion for EM/principal? Is it a typical MBB case interview or more of a conversation?
Background: don't have the time to sink in 50 hours of traditional MBB case prep like you would as an MBA sharpening up for cases. I'm hearing conflicting things on how exp hires are evaluated
Anyone take SHRM? How many hours did you study?

Get a good night's rest. Wake up, give yourself a pep talk and then be honest with yourself about what you want from the next stage of life.
Good job Op! Seriously- I would read or re-read the most recent version of "What Color is your Parachute" and do the exercises!!!' Yeah, I know you are all too "too cool" but this is an amazing tool. It may not tell you the exact job, but it will tell you where your most natural fit is I would also do Strenghtsfinders and that will give you additional insight and then start reading all the jobs but don't apply unless you are really interested. Also start networking when you can so that you hear from some live industry people. Think of the process as an adventure!
Look at internal opps, it's a big firm out there. I've wanted to leave numerous times but they've always found a different home for me. Been with firm 5 years, 3 teams in 3 countries
Yeah I'm in the same boat. I want to leave but don't know what I want to do next. Pretty much nothing I've done at Deloitte is my answer so far
I like indeed.com. Also, maybe start keeping a journal (or note in your phone) with different ideas/things you enjoy (or hate) that you could expand upon in your job search.
Easy first step, start with what you don't want and move forward from there.
OP if it makes you feel better there are tons and tons and tons of consultants in the same exact boat. Start being proactive, Rome was not built in a day and just take it one step at a time. It may take time, but eventually balls will start hitting. You just need to be patient, and relentless in pursuing opportunities. You will feel discouraged and mentally and physically exhausted but you need to keep your eyes on the prize and keep pushing. In the same boat as you and things are finally starting to (slowly) hit. Best of luck. Be strong. You got this
I'm in the same boat.
Start on LinkedIn!
I feel like LinkedIn suggests more consulting jobs similar to what I currently do, not potential realistic shifts out of consulting. Any better job search sites?
Network with humans. Figure out what you want and then ask for it.
What's your skill set?
Same as everyone else. I did so many different projects and I do not know what kind of jobs I should pursue.
Hard work never goes to waste!
@OP, be strong! Sounds like you've figured out at least if this is for you or not. I'm in the same boat but haven't decided if I should stay. There seems to be a lot of good advice on this thread.
@pwc1, for the different teams you worked with, were they for the same verticals/horizontals and just on different projects? Or did you make drastic switches within the firm such as commercial & federal, IFS, etc?
All sort of in the same area; I've worked between strategy, economics, sustainability and CP&I. I used to be a pretty good modeler when I was an A/SA and traded on that skill rather than domain knowledge, which got me into teams that needed that skill set. I wouldn't advise drastic switches, but incremental adjustments along the way.
What kind of modeling?
