What’s a book you’ve read that made you a better CD. Books on creativity, mentorship, leadership, etc. I want this thread to be a resource for everyone.
I lead a team of women (ranging from 2-8 years into their careers) and want to advocate for their career growth with management. I’ve made the case for promotions and raises (have been pushing for this for months and keep being told “soon”—but I won’t give up), but I also want to try smaller asks and would love suggestions. Are there any books, one-off classes/trainings, virtual events, memberships, etc. that you’d recommend? Thank you!
Any mid-level copywriters looking for work? We had another writer leave and are looking to fill the position. It's a small shop with incredible creative leadership and fun food accounts. Trust me, you’ll get a lot of opportunities and have a blast. PM a link to your book and I'll tell you more.
I have created Algorithmic Product/System for the client to take out inventory not-in-demand for long time to save storage expense and also provide an approach to prioritize Work Orders based on Market Demand. It’s more like an Manufacturing Plan. I want to get into Product Analyst/Lead role. What approach I should take? Any books to start with? Any events to attend? Any groups to join?
Are there any good business or leadership books you all recommend? Or just good books in general?
If you’re succeeding on all the right metrics (i.e., leadership loves you, clients love you, you’re participating on pitches, you’ve brought in clients, and you’re set up to inherit a book of business), but you’re still not super into it, being promoted to income partner won’t change things, right? Worth sticking out to see or jumping to go in house at a pre-IPO, late stage startup you find super exciting and interesting?
I work in the timeshare industry for the last 10 years, but dying to get out. We book sales meetings with travelers and basically speak to every Type of person. I was always a top performer and now lead a top team. Its not easy and most fail. I made lots of money. I want to change careers and move to tech sales as a SDR or CSM but all my exp is in B2C instead of B2B. Can you guys give me any advice on how to break through?
Hi Ladies! I’m transitioning to a manager of a team I’ve been leading. There’s been a lot of turnover with the team and I feel like I’m having a hard time getting the team to see me more as an authoritative figure. For example, when I ask for volunteers on a simple task, no one replies. Should I just resort to assigning rather than asking? Also are there leadership books you suggest that I could read up on? Thank you!
Just curious how many interviews did you go on before landing a job? Iv already had 5 different interviews where I make it to the final rounds and they just say they are going a different direction with someone with more experience. I have one that I’m waiting back to hear from and have a second round with Amazon. If I don’t get these I’m debating on if I should read/study leadership books to try and change my approach when answering these questions.
What’s a good book when you’re more of a project manager but want to give the effect of leadership ?
Any good leadership books?
What’s your favorite leadership book?
For my fellow managers (team leaders, people leaders, project leaders, practice leaders, etc.) - which management / leadership books have you found to be helpful in honing your approach to leading teams?
soo my sleep schedule is effed up, i keep trying to wake up early-ish (7am) but i’m lacking motivation and i wake up tired 😴 i stumbled upon this article that talked about this book. we always hear about the “secret” of strong leaders is that they wake up early. has anyone read this/tried it out? 5 AM Club, The: Own Your Morning. Just took a leadership role at my firm. How should I prep? Any books or podcast one would recommend?
I’m looking to book a few leadership and management trainings or coaching for my CDs and ACDs. Any recommendations in New York? Something that’s not team bonding activity.
I'm so frustrated. I've been working for 10 years and I can't get an interview for Senior AD roles, but I get tons of enthusiastic calls for Intermediate ones. Im doing the work of a senior now - concepting alone, working direct with clients, guiding the odd junior - and I do a lot of stuff for the community at large that shows leadership (like conference stuff). I've had CDs review my book and they say my work is great. Why can't I land a senior job? I want to manage, I have good ideas. WTF?
Got to CD level for being a good creative, trying to get better at the managerial part. Any good books / resources about how to effectively lead and push the teams that work under me?
How does one go about preparing for, applying to and doing well at general counsel jobs? I’m a senior in house counsel and looking to get to the next level and take on a leadership role. Also battling impostor syndrome - I think many of us hold ourselves back. Are there any GC boot camps, books, training programs, coaching, mentorship programs and anything else that could help take me to the next level?

Life lesson of the week: My manager’s word is good for nothing and only goes as far the client’s subjective approval of my work. I wish he would grow some balls and stand up for good work, period.
are there any good reference materials (or websites) for Deloitte case interview / behavioral interview for an experienced hire? 🙂
Thinking of asking out a New Sr Analyst on my project do dinner. We've talked and hung a bit (in groups mostly) and seem to hit it off really well. I'm a little concerned about dating from work though
FS peeps, what are some exit opportunities you've seen colleagues leave for or are interviewing for yourselves?
