Expecting to be a dad, who do I need to notify at work? Already notified my counselor, engagement managers, counseling family leader. Does hr need to know?

They are usually the best to help explain the company policies, e.g. paternity leave, and extra childcare leave, any other initiatives. My work has a sponsor type arrangement where you get a practice lead who can help you come up with a plan how to manage and wouldn’t of known about it unless hr said something.
But no I guess they don’t “need” to know but it’s probably useful

Agree with C1. I let my firm know early because I was expecting a project extension about the time the baby was due and wanted to make sure I was OOO. My advice, get clear with you SO the week you will stop traveling. I stopped week 36 and stayed I could be remote after that but no travel.

Firm also had some nice perks that telling HR let me in on. But biggest thing is it help me set my no travel window instead of springing that on people.

If it early in the pregnancy and you are closing off a project also gives a good reason to staff local or close. Also can be a huge help to fly out on a Tuesday to make an appointment or go home Wednesday

Does anyone else have that one person who is more senior than you that is just always so condescending while adding no value themselves? I have a director who I work with (not in my direct mgmt line) that just treats everyone on my team so poorly, so I act as the shield and it’s so annoying how someone who is so disrespectful and honestly not super value-added only ask for data/questions and not provide any genuine input or recommendations.

Just got let go and my manager said part of it was because I was looking for other jobs. I didn't look for other jobs at work, so I'm not sure how they could have known that unless a coworker snitched on me. Is it worth it to try and find out who or should I just leave it? Can't deny that I'm seriously pissed off about it.

What should I reasonably expect from a junior?

I manage a junior developer that's been with the company for about 18 months. I end up providing them of TON of support. I need to give them extremely detailed instructions or they fail. For bugs, I need to point them to a specific function that's causing the bug. For new features, I'm basically writing their method signatures and defining their test cases.

I've tried asking them to do more on their own, but when I do, they fail spectacularly.

I’m have a new theory about why juniors always feel like idiots and wanted to see if anyone else thinks this makes sense. I’m a third year, and am the most junior person all of my teams (generally me, a senior or two, and a partner or two), and I always feel like I’m messing something up. Is this just because I never get to work with other juniors and don’t see the mistakes they make, and that it’s relatively normal? And FWIW I went to HYS and I’ve had a clerkship so it’s not like I’m not smart

Is it okay to join a new team and say "I expect your Support to myself" when you know you're not joining as a lead to the team.??

My team lead calls be exactly at the time of logout and keeps pinging me to complete everything by eod.

How can escape from this situation.
I want to set boundaries in the beginning itself.

Any kind of suggestions are appreciated
