Fairly new @PwC. What can you get away with if you don't use Voyager and AMEX for biz travel? Am fine with using V for flights but personal cashback credit cards to pay for hotels and meals.

MD asking this... 🤔

like

It's against policy and you might get away with it once, you have to fill out a manual form like for cash purchases and no guarantees it gets approved.

like

It may be cheaper on an individual transaction basis but they have firm-level agreements for volume and such that impact rates extended from preferred vendors for the following year's contract.

like

Yeah your best bet is to just enroll in membership rewards so you keep all your points

like

Lol MD what firm did you come from? At pdubs it's required to put all expenses on Amex or prepare for an internal audit.

like

@op, You probably will get dinged. With hotel, you can get away by booking it thru hotel websites using your corp card with our corp code. For meal it has to be corp card. I read it here on FB that this has something to do with the firm using tracked volume to have more negotiation power. BTW, You can enroll Amex rewards program and the rewards are decent.

like

I see. Even if promos outside of Voyager come up to be cheaper?!! That's insane

PwC intern here, Mr MD. That's a negative. Corp AMEX and Voyager is lifeblood of PwC.

MD loves his points

Great excuse to fire someone without having to deal with performance etc,

New to the firm but good to find out the general feeling on this

Slalom1: as consultants we don't always have all the answers in the world. That's why we consult others for advice. MD or not, there is no exception

PHEV (specifically, RAV4 Prime) yay/nay?

Expected use case:
Family car
Low mileage (<10-11k / yr)
4-5 days a week expecting less 30 miles per day
Weekends 100-200 miles altogether (occasionally)
Rare road trip use (1x or 2x / yr; <300 miles one way)
Have garage (to charge at home)

Chief Concern: "Best of both worlds" in engineering can mean compromises and complications, which can mean non-resilient/unreliable. But I'm no gearhead, so not sure if I'm making massive incorrect assumptions.

Need advice. Have some credit card debt that I’ve been working to pay off. Have made progress but want to lower it quickly. We have dual income, with a house (~$300k in equity), 1 kid and 1 on the way. I’ve looked into debt consolidation via HELOC but also have ~$80k in vested equity in my company that I haven’t touched. Get equity refreshes every year. Would it be smarter to cash out $15k-$20k of that to pay debt vs. a HELOC at ~5% given that will still require mthly payments
