How do you deal with a boss contacting you when you're on vacation? This is my first vacation in this company and the boss keeps contacting me to do stuff for an upcoming and prospective projects, have stakeholder engagements etc which is essentially working. I am unable to focus on my vacation due to this and fear that I will go back to work "unrested"
In my previous company paid off time was respected and no one dared contact you under any circumstances.
How many vacation days have you been able to negotiate?
Are you in a market that pays you for unused days?
Do your days roll over to next year?
If unlimited, how many do you actually take?
Have to take a mandatory week off between now and august and my SO just started a new job so she won’t have enough PTO. Recommendations on where to go for solo trip? Based in CA but open to anywhere not crazy expensive
Need some thoughts. Received an offer from a well established company as a manager role doing HR analytics, and accepted the offer a week ago. A day ago received another offer from pwc. The salaries are the same, except I receive more vacation from the other company. Today I received an increase in the pwc offer (base rate) and I’m unsure what to do. Apart of me feels it isn’t right for me to entertain another offer when I just accepted one…What do you guys think? Thoughts on HR consulting @pwc?
Nanny question - we provide 2 weeks PTO and 5 days sick time per year. If the nanny doesn’t take PTO or sick time, do you pay this as extra? Or do we request that she must use it? Just realized we did not have this specified...
Just got back from extended PTO. First time traveling with the new expense system. Anything thing dramatically change when expensing ie seat upgrades on flights or hotel food/drink and Landry?

Anyone here work(ed) at Fjord? What are their benefits in California like? PTO? 401k match?
My doormen are very good. Some are better than others obviously, but overall very satisfied with the staff at my building. Very tight security, personable, etc. I live in a 120 unit apt with 8 staff total, incl. super.
How much is appropriate for a holiday tip per person?
Best to give equal amounts for all 8 even though some have never helped me, etc. (e.g., super or handyman has not helped me with anything)?
New lateral to a biglaw firm with unlimited PTO. How does that policy actually work? Any insight is much appreciated!
Any good recs for a week long solo vacation?
When leaving a company, should one use up their PTO or get it paid out? Someone once told me to use it up due to tax implications
does anyone have any great examples of a strategy portfolio/book? i’m not sure where to even start when it comes to synthesizing everything i’ve done and what’s important for the people looking at it (recruiters, hiring managers, etc)
What’s your top 3 change management books from the last 5 years? (Trying to refresh and read up again!)
I know V-day is some overly marketed made up holiday, but what is everyone doing either for themselves or with a bf/gf? I need ideas 👀
Slalom moms! Currently in the interview process and considering making a jump. Can you share your experience with WLB, if leadership is supportive of working moms, etc? I received info saying it’s only 17 days of PTO which kind of freaks me out for kid sick days. PwC is unlimited sick and I definitely use that with small kiddos! Maternity leave?
I left consulting a few months ago but I’m realizing that I was burned out from all the stress. I took time off prior to starting my new role (a month). However, ive realized that starting a new job has made me less motivated rather than motivated. Does anyone have any tips for getting back to your old self? It’s been so hard the past couple of years 😑 wondering if I’m the only one feeling this way.
I asked 3 of my higher ups to write me letters of recommendation a month ago when I put in my resignation. I went on PTO for a couple weeks & followed up with my manager today. He told me “actually I was told we aren’t allowed to write them for you. Sorry.”
I asked why and he just shrugged and continued the conversation...
Has anyone heard of anything like this? Bosses “not being allowed” to write LORs for exiting employees? I’m leaving on my own terms & good standing.
