How do you all deal with the guilt of leaving a comany/ team? I have been working at Microsoft for 1 year now, and seriously considering moving. I find the code base to be very legacy and I mostly work on obscure bugs that I spend so much time on, mostly due to navigating this large code base and not having much docs to refer to. Hence I find the job slightly unsatisfying, and that I could learn more elsewhere. However, I love the wlb, the team and company culture. The guilt stops my applying.
My final round with Deloitte for UK Tech Consulting Manager position soon. Strangely it’s not a PMD round as it usually is for other Big4/tech consulting firms.
1. Can anyone tell me if they’ve been through the whole process without speaking to PMD? (First round Sr Manager, second Case Interview by a manager and third again by a manager) 2. What is a typical salary to expect? I was asked in screening but kept it vague (e.g can discuss later bla bla). I was hoping 75-80 (ridiculous?)
I’m an L6 SDM at Amazon but a Meta recruiter sent me an M2 sdm job description. I have all the XP I need from previous job experience but does Meta keep your same level as Amazon? Meaning if I am an L6 at Amazon am I automatically interviewing at M1 or can I jump to an M2?Amazon Facebook (Meta)

i left for better work life balance, better company benefits, and a 30% pay increase. at the end of the day it’s controls testing, but work isn’t a big part of my life anymore so i don’t mind it.
SOX 404 for life!
Following. I didn’t know internal audit does anything besides SOX work?
Coach
Pros: more chill (even compared to industry accounting), slightly better pay at the senior level (compared to senior accountant)
Cons: you top out pretty fast, high risk of being pigeonholed
If your okay making 120k ish for some time then why not. I made the switch because I’d rather be stuck making 100k working 9-5 versus whatever PA wants to offer w crazy busy seasons and expectations. Also you can go into a role in industry just as demanding so be careful and make sure u ask the questions that are important to u
It’s actually 9-530 with an hour lunch but yes! At least that’s been my experience so far
IA also reviews processes and controls relate to operational risks. They’re also involved in providing recommendations when a new process is being put in place. Some companies have two departments, one focus on all risks except SOX and another one focus on SOX. Some are combined.
All depends on what you want- leaving PA to IA was best for me because I finally have work life balance and my life isn’t consumed by work. IA does do more than SOX testing at a lot of companies but of course it is necessary to perform and usually at least a segment of the team focuses on SOX.
