Thoughts on body size positivity movement?
The new company I’m at now sent me an email from an email address that was HR@companyName.careers saying I was accepted for the position. They gave me paperwork to fill out and sign to accept the position
I fill out the paperwork and send it back to them and it goes through… then a few days later I go back to the email to say something else and I get this…?
Then today I got a check from the company In the mail to setup my home office, and it’s signed by someone I’ve never met before or heard of…?
What…..

The only slippery slope on this is that before if you were running out of time to use your PTO it was difficult for management to say no to you taking time off. Sometimes taking time off is discouraged in an unlimited PTO scenario depending on the project you’re on. Also, there is no way to be paid out for any unused time when you leave the firm.

This is it for me. There were years where there was never a “good” time to take pto working on multiple projects for multiple partners at a time. More than once I was able to get the time off by leveraging the fact that I was going to lose it if I didn’t take the time.
Pro
I took about 5 weeks off last year with unlimited PTO, and still had about 100% utilization at the end of the year. I love it. I don’t have to think twice about budgeting my vacation days, like I had to with other firms.
If you are good planner, it can work very well for you. Utilization will always be in picture, but with planning you can mitigate some of that. Policies also dictate how and when you can schedule the PTO, e.g. for a 2 weeks PTO you have to give a 2 or 3 months notice.
For last couple of years, I was able to take 3-6 weeks without any hits to utilization.

Can work in employees favor at firms with reasonable utilization goals. Really depends on the culture. Probably won’t be beneficial for Big4 folks.
I actually really love my PTO policy. I’ve had about 4 weeks of time off this year with more planned for the holidays. I’ll meet my utilization targets and I don’t feel massively burnt out. We are absolutely encouraged to take as much PTO as possible.
