I just put in my two weeks to go to an AM 100 law firm to work in a niche practice area. I've never worked in a firm before. I started of doing compliance (non-attorney role) and then went in-house (acting GC for medium size company got a year). Any advice for someone who never had firm experience? Hey all! I am in the middle of interviewing at a healthcare data startup. I've gone through 3 if 5 rounds so far and it seems promising. I originally asked for 180-200k base salary since it's a director level role and I'm coming with ~9 YOE. They said that is at the very top of their budget so I'm looking for tips on how to navigate that conversation and if that comp seems reasonable?

How do I leave my role as someone on the talent team. I am on a small recruitment team of only a few people, who connect daily. I am also responsible for sending out updates tracking new hires and upcoming leavers (aka I would be on this list if i decide to leave). If I am looking to leave my company, considering all of these things, how do I do it in the least awkward, most professional way possible? I am an associate at a small firm and was licensed last fall. I clerked at this firm through law school, so I knew most of the partners before starting as an attorney full time, except some of the new ones we have acquired since. I have several cases that I am the only responsible attorney on and quite frankly, feel like I have no clue what I’m doing half the time. I’ve been working as an estate planning attorney in State A for the last 4 years. My husband just got his dream job (very high paying, lots of career opp for him) in State B. We’re still deciding what makes most sense for our family, but we’re leaning toward heading to State B. Anyone have any experience with this - moving states when EP can be so state specific? I’m worried how I’ll market myself/find a new job/start over.

What are your a la carte pricing for estate plan documents?

Any attorneys in the Bay Area practicing just in estate planning (not litigation), can you give your take on whether you would get enough business to do only planning? I'm currently doing family law and I want to start moving away from litigation. For family law there really isn't a non litigation role that produces enough business (i.e. mediation). I do okay, but definitely have to take on more litigation than I prefer. I was thinking estate planning might be a good addition to the mix.

Is the WLB in estate planning the best compared to any area of law? I’m currently in employment litigation and health law litigation and find myself gravitating to elder law/T&E? Is it possible to make this switch?
