From the FT today:
"However, what really jumped out was the frankly silly numbers that Jane Street is now offering graduate trainees and interns. Here…for a quantitative research internship in New York, which doesn't even require any finance industry experience. An annualised base salary of $250,000. For an internship.
Where research experience is "a plus"".
But biglaw firms can’t even pay Milbank bonuses although they grind you to dust…smh.

Jane Street interns are orders of magnitude smarter than the vast majority of biglaw associates

Wrong a4. $$$$ = smart

How exactly is that different from summer associate gigs...where ur paid annualized salaries for 225000 a year with zero experience in the legal industry

like

Though, when there ARE bonuses, they ARE sublime

Quants can make 7 figure annual salaries before a lawyer can even graduate from law school. They also often work hours that are more like 8am-6pm and can freely travel on the weekends because work is silent (markets are closed). Remember when people told you it was important to do your math homework?

😭 why am I not brilliant at math?!

They’re hiring in-house counsel lol. Saw the posting a few hours ago.

Haha good luck to whoever gets it. I had no experience relevant to what they were looking for, unfortunately

like

Yeah we just aren’t playing in the same league as these folks

Do more valuable work for people who will pay you for it

Getting into Jane Street is the equivalent of getting into WLRK. It’s not a very fair comparison to regular BigLaw.

Has anyone left big 4 or other PA firms tax transaction service groups for industry (or know of anyone)? For anyone in this bowl. How crucial is it for you to have a formal dining room separated from the kitchen? My son and daughter-in-law are buying a house for their future family and I'm trying to convince them a formal dining room looks better and makes things less chaotic in the kitchen, especially with kids. Am I out of touch? Or is it still important?
