Literally me right now
Cold feet about what? Change of scenery? Not getting paid better? Worse WLB?
Remember, you should be interviewing the company and your direct manager just as aggressively as they interview you. Only make the jump if it makes sense. You don’t have to say yes to any offer that comes. Find the right fit!
Play chess, not checkers. Moving a step back is ok if there’s a bigger strategy at play. There may also be a scenario where you use the interviewing process to understand what you need to work on skill-wise, and then you build those skills while working your current, higher-paying job and you make the move in the future without a step back in salary. Hard to say given the situation, but always try to figure out the best long term play even if that’s a few steps away from where you are now.
Good luck!!
Yes. I took the job I was very, very unsure about and couldn’t be happier. My job at my last agency was fine - predictable, not challenging (I barely had to do any work…ever), people were nice enough. I left to go to a job I knew would be more challenging and had crazy doubts about. And I absolutely LOVE it.
Yup. I just accepted a gig for more money and a title promotion but possibly a step back in creative opportunity. And now I’m a little worried that I’m not more excited about it.
