Going through a “mid”-life crisis (single 31 y.o.) and wanting to drop everything and move from ATL to NYC. Will I regret this in big law and have no life? I mainly want a more fast-paced, city vibe but want to be able to enjoy it. Do NYC associates have flexibility with WFH?

What firm are you at in ATL? Expect every big NYC firm to work you at least as hard as K&S. Your only hope is that everyone else you know will also be going to happy hour at 11pm.

Are you me? I contemplate moving the nyc at least once a month.

Move to Chicago. Faster pace and your COL is much lower than NYC. Big Law NYC associates are middle class, but Chicago you can be UPPER middle class (yes, there is a difference).

No joining bonus for early joiners
No WFH set-up cost for new joiners
The organization does provide chair/monitor/mouse/keyboard for WFH ease but then we have to return it while leaving organization.

Right now my current salary is too low which is 27LPA with 14 yrs of exp and working as Data scientist. I am getting very few interview calls. Not able to decide whether to join that 40CTC or need to withdraw my resignation. The problem with current offer is job in another location with 3mnts wfh option.

Hi. I'm currently in EY, YOE 9.5, CCTC 14 LPA fixed.. working on an offer from SocGen for 24 LPA.. should I ask more? What is the standard fixed CTC for 10 YOE at SocGen? Process Transformation Consulting..

Does SocGen provide joining bonus? I'm going to forfeit roughly 3.5 lacs worth of bonus this year to move.. need to know whether I can ask for JB.

What is the standard variable pay at SocGen? Is it 25%? Or 8.3%?

Permanent WFH options available? If so, are they mentioned in the offer letter

Can any one let me know if any of option open for me or is it over?

To those at V25 firms, how do you view your London office in terms of the quality of work we get and overall importance to the firm? Like is there a perception of us being a step down or ancillary to the big leagues of NYC or not? There’s generally a perception here that L&W and K&E are the only US firms where London can even begin to compete with stateside in terms of generating l work organically but would be interesting to know what you all think? Senior attorneys at v100, how common is it for attorneys who start at small firms to lateral to biglaw? Have you worked with any? Conventional wisdom is always that if you don’t start there it’s hard to “trade up”. My coworker and I just did it to two different great v30 firms, and I’m wondering if it’s really that uncommon? Just out of curiosity. We’re not special counsel with special niche skills or anything, just associates. Pitfalls to beware? Positives?

I know that some other associates at my level are approximately 30% behind other associates in hours on a month to month basis. Yet all of these associates say they are “at capacity”, and myself and another associate still end up being assigned work instead of them. How do we handle this? For reference, all associates are around the firms minimum requirement, it’s just that a few of us are 30+% over and it is leading to burnout.
