I got fired once for being a minute late. I waited tables for a bit, helped my dad with some rentals. Kept looking for salaried work and did find something. it was a contract job. I'm doing great now and no one is standing at my desk with a clock
You don't have to tell any employers or interviewers you got fired. You can Google some good "why did you leave" answers. When they ask for references, give them HR not your boss. They cant say you were fired. They give dates of service, title confirmation, and possibly salary. It's not legal (in the US) for them to say much more. If you are ever asked about any job gaps, were you helping family with medical issues? Did you do part time work using some work related skills while finding a job that fits you well?
Time will pass and you will have more employers and job history that this will just be a small blip in the past. For now it's one day at a time and very slow.
You will do something better.
I was fired on Thursday and told Friday was my last day. The job was a living hell though. I sat at my desk and cried for a long time after that phone call. I laughed for the first time in 3 months yesterday. I laughed so hard I cried. It will get better. Take some time to reconnect with yourself redefine your values. You will be okay. We both will.
What happened? What was the 1st?
Personally I wouldn't list HR as a reference, mine were leaking PII like a broken water main. They also were a week late notifying IT that someone was fired. "We have their laptop," was their excuse. Our company VPN was easily obtained and work creds still valid. They have a week worth of access. I reported it to my boss with proof... You can guess. My boss was fired a few months later. I reported the HR leak directly to a contact inside InfoSec. Thankfully I have been working through Field Nation and a specific company. I would use them obviously.
Been fired from last 3 jobs. One of them makes sense but the last one got me bad. They never told me I did anything wrong just that “we have tried everything to work with you but it won’t work out.” Like at least tell me and communicate with me if I’m doing something wrong so I can fix it or even just know what I’m doing is t right with company. I don’t know I have a fear that after 6 weeks at any job I’ll be fired
