Group of analysts went to the most expensive steakhouse in the city, on the way out run into our partner, SM and the client who says "well you guys had a nice expensive meal..." Tomorrow should be fun

Was it the client who asked? Best response = "It's nothing compared to the hourly rate we're gouging you with to cover our corporate overhead and partner bonuses." (As you give them a nice slap on the shoulder and politician smile).

What city 😂 how embarrassing for our Staff 0s

It was awkward for us (I am a staff) but I can't imagine how awkward it was for the partner/SM after we left

Oops sorry OP 😔

Yes it was the client and yea little do they know D2

As long as it's within policy who cares. I went to Nobu 2-3 times per week on my last project and just meal averaged the rest.

I’m curious. What would you say is the best industry / sector for…1. WLB, 2. Great people / team, 3. Exit opp’s., and 4. Overall (mix of the above). Goes without saying the obvious “it depends on office, team, project, client, etc.” So this is an ask for general observations.

I join tcs by changing my profile and my previous exp was in 5 yr pre-sales.
I am giving my best in work but still escalations are raised against me by client.
My husband is also in tcs he is moving to onsite in Jan and my travel is also planned mid next year.
I am giving 12hour daily in my job to adjust in new profile. And affecting my health now.
Shall I quit the job and move with my husband with on dependant visa? Or i shall continue to get pressurized and wait for my onsite?
Plz suggest.

Is it just me or are there entirely too many people in Business Services, specifically TC’s, who are just folks from client service that don’t want to deal with hours and travel anymore but have no formal training in the Business Services function they transition to? It seems to me very few TC’s are professionals in HR with any background, training or certifications in HR.

Interesting all the noise about these PPT, my take:

The pandemic took all the upside of an IB analyst life (client meetings in person, fancy trips, suit up, worshiped at networking events) and left all the juniors with the downside (long hours, monkey-like type of job, aggressive work environment).

Not that the complaints are not sort of legitimate but you may need to revise the decision-making process that led you to accept a return offer. Specially if you were looking for less hours.

I’m a closeted no book reader. I’ve maybe read 5 books over the last 10 years… My teams over the years are always talking about all the books they read and providing recommendations, but luckily people tend to be more interested in sharing what they read rather than listening so I’ve made it this far. Lot of fear in the market right now (understandably so). The situation in Ukraine is awful and the potential consequences are scary to think about.

There are some who want to sell in fear of their investments falling further. Do not do this. Hold and continue to buy more. Continue your 401k contributions, and add whatever you can afford after every paycheck into your brokerage. Those who sold the covid crash were often late buying back in.

This is the dip you're worried about.

Let’s discuss all of the things we would have advised Elon Musk not to do re: Twitter had he hired us as consultants. I’ll start:

M/SM and above, why do you label a meeting as “touch point” or ask if you can have a “quick chat” when it’s something serious? Millennials like us always assume we’re about to get fired - I actually have been laid off in a meeting with that title. But at my new job, my boss asked for a “quick chat” to literally ask me to change the title of a meeting and then chat about christmas. Now that I’m in management, I want to understand it better.

Help! I have 10 years of consulting exp - mostly federal and/or human capital, left to go to small company where I’m a VP. Comp is around 230 now - 170/60bonus. Alright fish, so I'm from a non-target school for consulting, for reference my school typically sends a couple to the Big 4 federal practices and FDD but definitely no MBB front office. Is there any way in hell I can break into some type of non-strategy role at a Big 4 firm with a B4 audit background and industry experience?
