Sorry, can't help it

Faced this weird behaviour from Optum recently. Gave interview for Data Scientist position. HR said feedback is positive. Asked for documents. It's been month now since I have shared the documents. I have no update on the offer. Today I called HR, she called me back saying the position is on hold due to recalibration in team, She has shared interview feedbacks to other teams and will get back to me in couple of days. I am clueless now. My last working day is approaching (In a month). Any Help??

I'm Black but idk what BAME is. Is this a British term?
Weird acronym… but they always are with the backwards DEI cottage industry. It’s an industry that needs constant upheaval, changing meaningless terms and pretending to evolve to survive. In the end it all just makes ethnic/race relations worse.
Consider:
Why is non-white separate (I.e. “we’ll lump you non-white lot together, wtv”)
Also why is black called out specifically? Why not just “minority ethnic”? Or better yet - not

Glad to hear you made it out the hood sc 😂
😂😂 just about!!
Just ignore them, your feelings are valid but people will continue to view you the same way. I’m a black person at my firm and one of the youngest as well. Many people seem to not value me the same way. Idc tho I’m getting paid! I say this because being black you gotta also understand to not show what your thinking or feeling or else they will dig deeper. It sucks yes but stay on your current path this too will pass.
I’m so proud of both of you! 😉
So done with the constant DEI crap
I think the DEI folks represent the majority of people who think these idiotic things deep down, and go out to rid themselves of their guilt.
Then there’s a small minority of actual raving racists/idiots, but most people couldn’t possibly think this way… could they?
Then again most people are absolute morons, and the proportion of idiots is growing.
Sorry you went through that but legitimately loling at this. Hope you can find some way to leverage their misguided perceptions at least 😬

I’ve been where you were.
As a person of color and someone from a different faith, I get asked about all of these “issues” as if I was the group’s representative.
It’s annoying and exhausting.
That said, there are a few things to keep in mind:
1. This is still better than what you’ll see with the anti-woke crowd. Those folks don’t believe there is any need for DEI. Often, they discount or deliberately ignore issues faced by non-white groups. They tend to excuse racist behavior unless they’re called out in public.
2. It’s fair to explicitly call these people out when they try to do the stuff you said. Point out that while they’re well meaning, treating you like the token BAME person is not appropriate and they need to cut it out.
SM1, I’m also Muslim so please believe I fear the faith conversation. For those reasons you listed I didn’t really say much other than ‘everyone experience varies’ and statements along those lines. I was totally aware that this was progressive in their eyes it just felt very condescending towards me and quite frankly upsetting. These are people I respected and within a hours meeting I lost complete respect for them.
Hah. I'm Asian American and work in London a lot. Whenever I'm in the egates line some Brit always quips like they think they got in the wrong line because an Asian guy is right in front of them. Even though I was born and raised in the US, whenever I had to fill out my passport details to get a VAT refund, fill out a visa form etc everyone asks if I have a different passport, even after talking to them in my normal American accent. So funny. That type of stuff never happens in the US. They're really old fashioned there and love to be classist even though I probably make 10x+ their salary.
I too had a similar experience. My manager once told me that I could share my experience of how I came to be a consultant in the US, being a female from a country like India. It would inspire a lot of people. Even though the suggestion came from a good place, it was a WTF moment for me. I grew up to highly educated parents & grand parents with more means than average Americans, in a household with cooks, cleaners, drivers, and multiple people to cater to my family's needs. Probably very few in western countries can even relate to such a lifestyle. I realized most people have a very distorted view of other countries and its people.
Wow I’m shaking my head. They really believe that it’s all struggle out there when most average Americans are living poorer. Sigh.
Sorry you had to deal with this. I went through something lsimilar as a white female with all male teammates from around the globe. Something like this is very difficult to process.
Could they have wanted your input because you were the only Londoner in the room and thus the only one with near first hand experience? Maybe it’s not about race at all.
No. They spoke about gangs like I was born in the mob lol. I attended Oxbridge and both my parents are doctors. There are other white people in my team that are more ‘hood’ than me. This was purely race driven.
What is BAME… these acronyms are getting rather lame
