Has anyone been successfully got the annual fee waived for your chase sapphire? Just applied and got the card and noticed that I got charged by the annual fee right away. I thought the first year fee was waived... Called the rep and she seemed to be very firm that it couldn't be waived.

Can’t get it waived until you have spending history, but even then you have to have significant spending. I’ve never had success, even during Covid when folks were able to get retention points, but I also use AMEX predominantly and can get that fee waived easily every year. I’m assuming you got it for a pointed bonus, no? If they didn’t charge until EoY then everyone would sign up, spend the points, and cancel.

Correct. I'll get the bonus with certain spending amount.

Do you want a referral to Amex gold? I need some more points lol

Some have the fee waive if you apply in a bank branch 😉

HNY all! I have multiple rollover and traditional IRAs, as well as a solo 401k. But (since I started paying attention to this kind of thing) have always been over the income limit to start a Roth IRA. I’ve also not done much contributing in the last few years due to purchasing an apartment and saving for renovations. Cue pandemic joblessness... if married filing separately, would you say it’s a good idea to start a Roth while under the income limit, even in this climate? Any reason not to?
