Has anyone else ever received responses from male colleagues like "I will work on this for you" or "we will get that done for you" as if they are doing a favor just for you, when really it's a task that's within their job description and is necessary for the business?

This type of response boggles my mind. For more context, I'm in Finance and talking with Operations staff - so maybe that is the disconnect.
