I recently started releasing music and I’ve seen good success. That being said, I also write television scripts and had my first project optioned by one of Viacom’s studios in December of 2020. The process is long and arduous and not immediately lucrative. In addition, most creative industries cost money to make money. I’d advise keeping your job while developing a plan and pursuing your creative passions
It's all about how much you're willing to sacrifice. Creative work is a long-game, with a huge amount of self-motivation and self-direction required.
You also need to be able to self-validate; my friends in Hollywood succeed because they don't care if other people think their ideas are dumb - they make it happen.
If you want to do it, I absolutely think you should go for it. If you can have your finances together for a cushion and are ready to live in a box to save as much money as possible, even better. Consulting is fine work but at the end of the day, it's really about following what you love.
