I’ve done it as a participant so many times. Especially when I hear them chewing.

Hahah not awkward at all. Wow that’s wild
I mute people in Teams ALL the time. It tells theme they were muted but not who did it.
I find it incredibly satisfying.

I have muted so many people so many times. Especially if there was a background noise from someone or they are talking and forgot they are in a meeting.

Oh I’m not shy about muting other people. Oftentimes I give people the benefit of the doubt that they don’t realize their mic is on when they’re not talking but typing/chewing/sliding their chair across the floor loudly
I was only at this meeting. It was the entire ATT call center branch (like 300-500 people). Some guy was making noises that 100% sounded like he was getting some great oral. They muted the whole meeting lol
Always doing it, can’t stand them mouth breathers

I didn’t know you could do it as a participant. And yikes

You can! Atleast I can lol

Yes.
Yup! We were having a team gripe meeting (aka, boss is bitchy and everybody needs to listen meeting). I’m wfh. I’m on my balcony. I’m pulling above my weight and I’m only on the meeting because he can’t just selectively bitch at the people he’s specifically talking about, we all gotta be present and accounted for (cuzzzzz - go team! And that would require something more than spineless passive aggression from him for once). I was tuned in for the first 20 minutes, and by that point he’d already repeated his grievances 3x without actually addressing any of them. So lit a cigarette- whatever - sue me. It took him til my 3rd cigarette to even notice. He popped off with a question like I fell asleep in class. I answered, correctly, no hesitation.
I think he really just needed to gripe, at anyone for any reason. So I let him segue into griping at me about smoking for another solid five minutes. When he paused for a breath I was a funny smart ass. “Wow, I hear your frustration. Do you feel better? Are you finished or should I wait for the rest?”
Was it smart? No lol. Was it funny to me and my team? You’re damn right lol, and we could all use a laugh. He launched into another tantrum… and then I muted his microphone lol. Took him way too long to realize too lol. It was priceless. I’d do it again. 😎

Yea I did it once. A couple minutes after they tried talking, and I forgot I muted them. Oops, was a nice bit of silence there
What for?

BCG2 this presented maybe 40% of issues at hand. Take that phrase to mean it could have been longer, but wasn’t. 😅

I do this all the time, I have this partner in my team who never goes on mute, but then starts doing other things in meetings, lots of typing, etc, annoys the hell out of me, always mute him
