There are some wonderful creators on TikTok who speak to the reality of Black women in corporate, including law. One discusses that we are always going to be targeted, esp. if we are high achieving, high performers and once you accept that this is what work is, you can move… maneuver …accordingly. It is a treasonous disgrace to the ancestors to let them push you out of the law, so don’t you even think about doing that!! We don’t need more influencers or bright attorneys leaving the 1-3% of us that are in this profession. But if you approach the experience that despite your fantasy of what you want it to be (e.g. some version of Suits where we’re all having after work drinks and collaborating) you’ll be able to keep your mind on the bigger picture which is to think about your coin & the next generation. You are there to take those people‘s money: to help yourself, your family and build generational wealth & status. Stop trying to be their friends, because they will never be your friends, you will never be able to trust them, they will ALWAYS be jealous of you.
I’m a Partner and the younger white women associates & their clueless white aspiring brown pets (Latinas) STAY trying to try me (one after the other, lol). Doesn’t help them because I put in that work to make sure that my work product, especially my writing & my speaking skills are stellar. That has helped me rise to a level where I can put them in their place or turn ish around to make them look foolish. & they are too clueless to realize that the white male partners they’re cozying up to think they are frivolous trad wives at root.
The secret is accepting the above & knowing when to leave before it gets too bad, something that took me longer to learn BTW, so I know it’s not easy, but it is very doable and candidly makes the work environment better for you. It’s a version of the cliché of imagining that you have to give a speech in front of an audience and you see them nekkid so you can get over your nervousness. I see white people for who they are: failed up mediocres who are not incredibly bright, and only got to their positions because they have the grace of affirmative action benefit of the doubt; many of them are also ghastly modern day versions of that mob who surrounded Elizabeth Eckford. Why would I EVER want to be friends with them, or worse, let them push me out of a legal career? Leave the practice of law to people like J.D. Vance, Josh Hawley, Rudy Giuliani, and all those terrible lawyers who represent Trump? As the kids say, DaFuq?! Find those TikTok’s (Black women corporate & microagressions or mobbing or introvert or similar searches) and get inspiration, learn strategies for handling & take solace that you are not the only one and you have the power to make it better for yourself and those that come after you.
P1 feels like AI 🤔
My god this sounds awful. Hasn't been my experience but could be based on geographic location. I am doing well in NYC and haven't felt the same discrimination you describe. Where are you located?

Unfortunately the Neely trial would indicate otherwise…
This sounds awful and I’m very sorry you have experienced this. I also am a Black woman and I absolutely love my firm. The people I work with are genuinely good people and I hope you are able to find that for yourself as well. Sending love ❤️

I thought I did…. And turned out they were like every other firm.
Just be yourself while demanding your respect as they've been demanding the same of you. Keep in mind tho, the fact that black people were freed by Lincoln long ago. So what we do with our liberties affects our whole race. See since the 1800's, Blacks have always allowed themselves to remain in their own mental slavery world; Which allowed "others" to exploit "us" as a whole. i.e., the so-called, old Jim Crow laws; now, supposed to be dead? See what type of a Black community those laws produced? A generation of society misfits of our black race!!!
