Hi! I may have the best thing for you! I recently just resigned over the summer as a teacher. And for the past few months, I’ve been doing something to not only earn extra income, but to help replace my income. I have a video that I made about it, but Fishbowl doesn’t allow videos to be posted. Another teacher on here actually just emailed me to get the information I’ll message you my email and if you’re interested you can email me back and I’ll send some information in the video that way. 😊
Oh it says you’re not available to chat. Well let’s try this… I’ll send a link to the business overview. Lmk if you want anymore info.

I have done tutoring on the side privately as well as via Varsity Tutors online. It can be a very good money maker if you have extra time. I don't have the extra time right now but I do enjoy it.
I also tutor online for Varsity Tutors— individual elementary school students. Even though the hourly rate is lower than I’d like, I enjoy it for the flexibility
I would not want to go from teaching all day to tutoring in the evenings or on weekends. I would get burned out. My district also does not let us tutor students that we have in our class or may have in a future class. The central office collects the names of any teachers that are interested in tutoring and compiles a list. Parents looking for that kind of assistance are directed to pick up that list or ask the district to email it to them.
Decide how many hours you're willing to tutor each week and stick to it so you have time for yourself and your family outside of work
You can try looking for listings in upwork or fiverr! There's where I found a few students looking for a math tutor.
You might be better off picking up freelance gigs here and there on sites like Upwork. That way you're not tied down to one ongoing thing all the time.
If you want to start tutoring I would recommend providing your information to the counselors or even math teachers at surrounding schools. When you have students I would suggest developing a contract that includes whatever is important to you. (cancellation policy, payment policy, etc)
I’ve done tutoring through Care.com so I can find families that are close to me and see what they offer do I can make a business decision. It’s worked for me and typically it’s been for several months (mid fall into spring) for one hour per family so enough to add to a budget but not enough to coast. Try it out :)
