Has anyone here (without any debt) resigned from their current job without any job lined up because of mental health issues?

I’m a junior associate, with debt, who is considering the same. The struggle is very real.

I just resigned from my job this week largely because my mental health was struggling but I spent the past month finding a new job with the knowledge that I’d have two weeks of vacation to decompress in between.

Since I knew I was leaving no matter what I’ve spent the past month really working on myself with less focus on billables (without missing deadlines of course). Started seeing a new therapist, worked out psych meds to be much more effective, started building in the self-care that i’d neglected because of the job, etc.

My advice is: if you are already okay with quitting without something lined up, why not just take your foot off the gas and start making a plan for what’s next on your firm’s dime? It’s a crazy lateral market and there are plenty of fish out there.

Hold on everyone :") yes I think I will submit my one month notice next week

Make sure you can go a month without income in case they cut you loose early or right away. Not unheard of. I’d advise finding a job and clearing conflicts before giving notice.

I did. It has been refreshing to not have to worry about getting up and going to a place I hate where I would be completely disrespected. Granted I have support of family, but it wasn't long before I found something else. Doors open once you move past the toxicity.

Hello Fishers,

I have YOE - 5 Y and PGDM as highest education. CTC - 9.35 and have received 3 offers -

Globant (Service) - 15.6 LPA Fixed

TIAA (Product) - 16 LPA Fixed (In Discussion)

Xcaliber (Service) - 16 LPA Fixed

Which will be a better offer considering WLB and growth? Is the salary as per industry standard or should I negotiate for more? Also is it worth moving from product to service company?

Does anyone have any advise when it comes to navigating getting help and your firm. I had a tough month mentally. But I reached out to my local bar’s LAP. I’m starting the process of seeing a therapist. But my dreads still here. Our annual reviews are approaching & one of my direct reports has been with us for almost six years w/ little growth. I am not behind this decision & have voiced my multitude of concerns in promoting an employee who doesn't deserve it. HR is behind the decision! Thoughts on promoting an undeserving report?
