Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Dress as usual. Suit and tie, at least the top half. Which company are you interviewing for?
I have one tomorrow also and I’m just doing dress shirt and a blazer. I’m not a tie guy and plus a tie just seems a bit much for a video interview imo. Did the same for my last 2 interviews and got offers.
Just wear your best... you want the job, right?
Dress sharp and shine hard 👍🏽 regardless of it being virtual or in person interview.
I’d go suit and tie. I did an interview back at the beginning of April and was in business formal while the interviewers were in casual. I still felt better than I would have if I wore casual. At this point it’s just expected that the interviewee is in a suit and tie

So nuts out with nothing but a top hat and monocle? 😂

Butt naked
Bonus points for that
Depends on the role?
As a rule of thumb dress at least one step above what employees in a similar role at the company would.
Dress the same as you would for an in-person interview

^ If you’re interviewing in tech, you may want to ignore all the people above who said suit and tie
You should have clarified dress code in advance with the person who scheduled the interview
Can confirm. As an interviewer at a tech company I would find this odd over camera. Wear a button down shirt, worry more about your hair and the quality of your sound.
The idea around wearing a well fitted suit is to get subconscious points from the interviewer but in the video interview era I would be wondering if you are wearing the full suit or just the top half.
The angle of your screen, lighting, background, ambient noise are the new vectors of subconscious evaluation because that's all I can see on the screen.
I care way more that there is a half eaten bowl of ramen in the background than the pick stitching on your lapel.

This is what recruiter are for. Ask them and they'll give you a good understanding of expectations.
Where to find exit opportunities?

How did it go OP? I’m moving to the next round to meet with a VP and the interviewer at the end said (unprompted) to dress just like your are for the next round. (Dress shirt and blazer, no tie) 🤷. The interviewer was just wearing a company t-shirt lol
Went well! Ended up wearing blazer and no tie. Recruiter just reached out to schedule the next round of interviews!
I just interviewed and did the video chat with a button down. All the MDs I chatted with were dressed about the same.
Suit and tie. 💯. Even if the interviewer is in casual house clothes, dress to impress.

Showing up in a suit and tie in a video interview with me would be bad. Shows you don’t understand the culture of my company. Please clarify with the recruiter!

ok ya not tech but I assume this guy is interviewing for a consulting role.
