I was in the middle of sending an email, responding to another slack and joining a webex call at the same time. So no, I wasn’t there but I was trying my best 🥺
Yep. 100% understand
I really hate that. I had a leader ask to call me quickly and I said can you just type it? They did and I answered. I’m in the middle of work, I don’t want to take a 15 min call just so you can listen to your own voice.

Sounds like GBS alright. Been there, seen that.

OP: this leader lacks empathy which is such a bummer. I can completely understand the anxiety of “ah! Am I in trouble for not responding fast enough?” This is a difficult time for everyone, especially with a lot of folks feeling generally anxious about lay-offs and RAs. Easy to worry about every interaction.
A mature, empathetic and organized leader will rarely need a response this quickly.
Please don’t internalize his/her insufficiency as a reflection of your performance or attentiveness.
Breathe. Respond when your ready. Empathize that s/he is or was dealing with something that is causing them to be inconsiderate of others. Remember this person so you can do better when it’s your turn in that seat.
You’re doing great.
I invest so much value and respect into any leader because of their position/authority, when in fact they aren’t perfect.

Don’t call this pissant a “leader”
Breathe, step away, then respond when you’re ready
He just yelled at me for something beyond my control. I’m already perceived as problematic (although I’m not in the wrong here)
I’m so sorry. I’ve dealt with the same thing, and I hate it. Sometimes the best thing we can do is just make a mental note and to promise ourselves that we won’t do that to anyone else.
Amen!
