Have you ever passed up a promotion opportunity? Would love to hear your story if so, as it's something I'm seriously considering.

Please don’t. You’re better off accepting the promotion and quitting and taking time off after it’s effective. That way you’re able to leverage your higher level for new opportunities

Multiple times. I play the long game and I’ve had many offers that don’t suit my goals. Managers make offers that serve them, not serve you. You don’t want to box yourself in a position that you can’t leverage. And they will always say some bs like “the grass isn’t always greener on the other side” when you leave for what you actually want. Most of the time, it is.

Obvious comment by your title… but this is not a response from someone in IB.

Got a 30% salary bump, via an offer for Senior Consultant S&O from Deloitte. Currently underpaid at EY Advisory. I'm MBA and this year is my promotion year at EY for Manager. What to do? Get demoted and move to D? Or counter at EY? Even if EY matches my salary, and promote me to Manager, I will be an EY Manager with a Deloitte SC salary, and probably won't be able to go to D in the future. What do you think? I have built up a good relationship with my Partner and SMs at EY though.

Hi, where or what types of companies should sophomores & juniors apply for next summer (2022) to recruit for IB the following summer (2023)? This summer BBs wrapped up SA IB recruitment, EBs even earlier, and a fair amount of my friends missed out big time.

Also, if a sophomore or junior doesn’t get a finance-related summer internship (I.e tech) and aims for an IB SA or FT position, is it harder to break in?

Appreciate any advice and insight, thank you.

After slowly climbing the ladders, I feel like I finally got a seat at the table. Half the days I like the hustle, but now I miss being creative. I want to take more brainstorming, decision making responsibilities but I don’t see that in the career path for PM. Career path usually goes like this- Sr PM, Director, Sr Director, and so on. But all do same work.

Thoughts on seniority? Also, any interview resources for PE portfolio roles?
