Have you ladies ever considered becoming stay at home mums?
I am realizing that I might not have enough capacity to be the type of mum I want to be and also hold a demanding time-consuming job.

I was one for a number of years and I have mixed feelings. If I had to go back, I would have chosen to work part time instead so I could have kept some semblance of my career. Fast forward and my son is now 20 and I’m divorced, life is more expensive than it’s ever been, and I feel like l’m clawing my way back up to where I feel I should be. Being a stay home mom can change your relationship with your husband too. It shifts the power dynamic ever so subtly. Whatever you do always keep an eye on your finances, even if you’re married to the nicest guy. Life can change and I think you should always be able to take care of yourself.

I have regrets. I wish I had stayed home with them. Do it if you can.

Yes but not possible for us in this economy. I do work from home and my job is very flexible with school pick ups, drop offs and any dr appointments. I know I can be working a more demanding and better paying job, but I’m not willing to give up a job that works with my kids over more money

The thought has crossed my mind, and we're actually in the process of crunching numbers and getting financial advice to see if we can make it happen.

Keep in mind that kids are pricey, way more than you expect. Especially this era. Unless you live in a lcol place.

I stayed home with my new born but I didn't have any social network- I was bored and missed adult interaction but I loved see my baby grow and feelt we both need interaction to our age group- my daughter started her daycare and I started my job - thankfully my job is flexible for pick up n drop times

I quit my job and stayed home for my first child, I lasted 1 year. We could easily afford it. However, stay at home life is difficult, isolating, and you lose your independence and income. People don’t appreciate SAHMs. I went back to work and I’ve continued working ever since for past 13 years (through second child). I see other SAHMs struggle to get back into their careers after a few years off.

Being a good mom is not about being at home 24/7. It's about quality time, love and support. You can be an amazing mom whether you're crunching numbers at the office or building sandcastles in the backyard. The key is finding a balance that works for you and your family.

I don’t have kids but yes, I would love to.. but I also have other things I want to give my kids (send them to private school, pay for college, enroll them in lots of activities, get them tutors if necessary, travel with them) that are…pricey

The memories that matter to kids are, “you spent time with me”. It’s not the private schools or all the activities, it’s the quality time. This is coming from a 19, 21 and 30 year old. You get 18 summers, make them count.

A lot of 30 yr olds appreciate college tuition and down payment assistance too… :)
Once kids hit teen years, they don’t want you hanging around them all the time. Take a few years off when they are young.
I love working and I’m able to give time to my kids as well. I’m happy with my balance.,

On the topic of intimacy with partners… I’ve been with my boyfriend for 2 years and the past year his libido has dropped to zero. Mostly due to work stress (he says). Whenever I try to initiate, he always shuts me down and says he’s not in the mood. I even touch him and he gets hard but stops me as soon as I try to unzip him. We went from once a week to maybe once a quarter.

I’ve talked to him about it and he says I should take care of myself. So frustrated. 😭😭

Hello! I am being asked to create a "back to school" shopping list for my art class. What would you suggest asking for from parents? I'm moving to a new school with no former art program.

Confused if parents want schools to reopen or not? I read so many posts here about how difficult it is to work full time and manage kids’ at-home schooling (I can’t even imagine!) so would assume that means parents want to reopen, but at the same time keep seeing a ton of backlash from parents in states who are pushing to reopen due to safety reasons. What’s the general consensus?

Today is my 23rd birthday and I had very few people say happy birthday today. I was still in daily contact with my ex (I know a mistake) and he snapped me but did not send me happy birthday (we were together 3yrs ). So I finally blocked him on everything for the first time. (I should’ve done it a long time ago for other reasons) With the pandemic and everything else going on I’m feeling hopeless and alone. 😓 is there anything to be happy about right now?

Good morning!

Still trying to figure out this whole Fishbowl thing, so here goes my first post.

I would love to get into provider credentialing, but all employers I've looked at want at least 3 years of experience. So, I'm looking at Provider Network Coordinator roles, because I'm finding some of those roles don't need AS MUCH experience. I'm a RHIT, and have been working in healthcare for nearly 10 years.

Any input on employers is appreciated!
