1. Build expertise. Asset management is a field that requires specialist knowledge, and it is recommended that you specialise in financial markets and banking in your Master of Economics degree, which will provide you with the necessary theoretical foundation and expertise. In addition, you can attend industry association courses or training to enhance your knowledge and skills.

2. Gain internship experience. An internship is an important way to enter the asset management industry, helping you gain practical work experience and build your professional network. You can gain relevant experience by joining an internship programme or volunteering.

3. Develop analytical and decision-making skills. The asset management industry requires the ability to analyse market data and make effective investment decisions. Therefore, you need to have some analytical and decision-making skills. You can improve your skills by participating in investment competitions and studying financial market trends.

4. Develop interpersonal relationships. The asset management industry is a close-knit one, and it is recommended that you actively participate in industry events and social occasions to connect with your peers and expand your professional network.

5. Keep learning and up-to-date. The asset management industry is an ever-changing industry and it is recommended that you keep learning and up-to-date with the latest market trends and best practices.

Is our industry as competitive as some say? I see a lot of people saying this and I work with a bunch of hacks (myself included). It felt like a little while ago agencies were begging to hire new talent, and most couldn’t find new people. Is it really that hard to get a job at an agency? Maybe I’m just out of touch being in this career for so long.

Looking for advice! I was approved to work remotely but my salary will decrease 10%. I received two raises so the decrease brings me down to my previous salary. I was told that it’s due to the cost of labor in the area.

I’ve been with my company for 8+ yrs, I love my manager and the work I do (engagement, recognition, & wellness programs) but I feel like I’m limiting myself since I have the experience, an HRM degree, and SHRM-CP credentials.

Should I apply for roles outside the company?

Hi all, if you’re a mid or senior copywriter in LA looking to join an advertising/entertainment/tech startup on the ground floor, give a shout. You’ll be writing everything from ads featuring celebrities to blog posts, videos, ads for our platform, and probably a few hundred other things. You’ll also work with our parent company, a premier Hollywood production/management company. The role is partially remote (come for key meetings and brainstorms but work remote other days). I've been working at this company for about 3.5 weeks now. Its been great so far.

We have an org chart in our dashboard ATS/HRIS and so I clicked on my first day buddies name just for fun.

I was able to see her entire employee file..even her address. I was really freaked out and I went to another profile and the same thing happened, I was able to see this person's emergency contact. Is this fucking normal? Should I say something and will I get in trouble for looking at a colleagues file?
