Hello everyone! I just wanted to come on here post my excitement about the passage of the Access to Mental Health Act. MFTs will now be able to offer services to Medicare clients and receive reimbursement. Until recently, I lived in a rural location with only a couple of LCSWs and many LMFTs and there were many elderly people who could not receive MH services. Approx. 25% of my services were pro bono for those clients. Now there will be service availability for so many more people. Any Thoughts?

This is fantastic! I always thought that some therapists not being able to get reimbursed for medicare was ridiculous. Hurts the therapist and the patient, and makes next to no sense. I think this is great!

I am planning to leave my firm after busy season and I am wondering if I should let them know this is my last busy season or stay quite and just give my 2 weeks after busy season? Hello, I’m an LMSW in Michigan. I have 15 years of experience in the field as a clinician, supervisor, and an administrator. I am feeling burnt out and unsure of my future. I have worked mainly in the Community Mental Health and the VA Health systems, hence my fatigue. I’ve flirted with private practice work in the past, but my spouse has been worried about not having affordable healthcare and benefits that each system provides. Is it worth the jump? Am I overthinking things?

Totally called her by the wrong name today AND gave her the wrong paperwork. She was really nice about it but I feel like my boss was disappointed and I'm disappointed in myself. I don't want her to think I won't be able to keep clients straight when I start doing supervised sessions.

Anyone here ever struggled working at a private practice during your first year as a licensed counselor?
