Are you medically retired or receiving full health insurance from the VA or just VA healthcare?
I only have VA healthcare meaning the VA will cover any expenses directly tied to my disability. Although it qualifies for tax insurance policies I have to maintain a comprehensive insurance policy for everything else non-disability related. That policy is eligible for HSA
I am not medically retired. 70% rating. Have been doing all my healthcare needs through the va for a few years no

If you have a SCD, then the irs considers ALL va visits to be treatment for the SCD. So if you have an SCD, you never have to pause your contributions
