Hello - I'm divorced 2 years. I have two boys who are 12 and 16. My ex has had a girlfriend for a while and they now live together, so of course the kids know her. They aren't particularly interested in her, but they accept her existence. On the other hand, I've been with my boyfriend for 8 months and have not introduced them yet... Has anyone quit their job because of a relationship? I started my job 3 months ago and now my employer wants me to move to NY. When someone tells me bad news regarding their health, I say everything I am supposed to say (I’m sorry to hear that, I’m here for you, etc) EXCEPT “everything is going to be ok”. Because I can’t guarantee that and I really don’t know if everything is going to be ok. I was taken aback recently when a friend told me I am calloused and cold-hearted for not being able to say those words. Is she right? Should I start saying this for the purposes of providing comfort only??

I am generally uncomfortable when I’m around my mother-in-law’s husband.

How much more than your partner do you need to make, to be granted alimony… I’m asking because I have seen cases where one person sacrifices themselves studying and working hard, while the other person is basically doing the bare min, and they can get alimony if they separate ?
